's Little Italy neighborhood, established in 1938 by Salvatore Consiglio, Friday, Dec. Catherine Avalone / Hearst Connecticut Media 15 of 15 NEW HAVEN — The place looks the same, the sauce has been made, and now they just have to open the doors. On Wednesday, Sally's Apizza will welcome back its customers starting at 3 p. m. after a two-month clean-up and transition to new owners, Lineage Hospitality, an investment consortium that plans to open replicas of the iconic pizzeria across the country. Bobby Consiglio, 69, his brother Rick Consiglio, 66, and all the regular crew will be back with a special deal. Founded 80 years ago by their parents, Salvatore (Sally) and Flora (Flo) Consiglio, the first 80 customers will get a free pizza on Wednesday to celebrate that milestone and the new arrangement. The same booths are there, patched where needed, as are the accolades and newspaper clippings on the walls. Probably the most important thing is that the Consiglios will continue to make the pizza and be a presence.
