Something went wrong, but don't fret — let's give it another shot.
If you've ever participated in a work or social conference call, or maybe even tried calling your favorite Aunt Mildred who, due to a youth spent attending rock concerts, is a bit hard of hearing and incessantly yells "what" into the phone, you're intimately aware of the greatness and fallbacks of modern telephone technology. People rooms, blocks, states or even countries apart can chat at the press of a few buttons. On the other hand, reception can get lost, participants can talk over each other, and Aunt Mildred could forget she's on the phone and keep you on the line while she rants at the mailman wrinkling her magazine subscriptions. When it comes to phone interviews, these benefits and problems are often exacerbated. Phone interviews are much loved by HR departments and hiring managers for their ability to allow for quick assessment of a candidate's basic skills. Make a phone interview faux pas, however, and you won't be on the receiving end of a call back or job offer. Like any other aspect of your job interview, smart preparation is critical to success.
Supervisors will be identified once students have begun their studies (rather than needing to be arranged as part of the application process). Applications for Fall admission are submitted to School of Graduate Studies ( APPLY HERE). Applications are due February 15. Decisions are announced in the spring. There is no admission for the Winter Term. Since the number of places in the program is limited, the application process is quite competitive. Students are to take 9 credit-hours from the list of Required Courses, 9 credit-hours from the list of Elective A Courses and 6 credit-hours from the list of Elective B Courses. The Wild has partnered with numerous local businesses to provide equipment for floor hockey programs in schools, as well as its Wild About Reading program for local students in a partnership with Hy-Vee. In 2016, the team partnered with Wells Fargo to install the first outdoor rink in the greater Des Moines area out at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines. In 2017, the two announced an expansion with two additional rinks in Waukee and Ankeny.

Preservation units deal primarily with materials from the circulating collections of the General Library System libraries and, to a lesser extent, with materials from Special Collections and from the University archives (which is independent of the Wisconsin Historical Society Archives). Materials to be preserved have physical problems of one sort or another. Problems range from minor (torn page, damaged spine) to quite severe (very brittle paper; textblock in pieces; water and mold damage). Many of the items are quite old, and may be dusty and dirty. Therefore, if you have significant allergies to dust or mold, this may not be the best working environment (though we do have attractive masks, gloves, and other types of protective clothing available). Materials are in all subject areas and all languages represented in campus library collections, so knowledge of foreign languages is always a plus. Ability to work with details is integral to preservation work, which involves close examination and comparison of materials, careful handling, and maintenance of the organizational integrity of items during processing and treatment.
